[Industry Trends] Teledyne e2v has released the next-generation high-performance global shutter CMOS image sensor

Teledyne e2v has released the next-generation high-performance global shutter CMOS image sensor

On the 2nd, Teledyne e2v launched its latest CMOS image sensor product line, the Emerald Gen2. Built on Teledyne e2v's advanced imaging technology, this new product line offers improved performance, making it ideal for various machine vision applications.

Emerald Gen2 is available in monochrome or color, with resolutions of 8.9 megapixels (4,096 x 2,160) or 12 megapixels (4,096 x 3,072). It is offered in two speed grades: standard and high-speed. The high-speed model excels in demanding applications where clear images are needed at very high speeds, such as food sorting, inspection, and intelligent transportation systems.

The sensor features small 2.8 µm global shutter pixels designed with Teledyne e2v's latest generation microlens technology, providing a maximum dynamic range of up to 67dB. This design allows the camera to operate in high-contrast scenes without exposure issues.

This new generation offers several improved features compared to the original Emerald product line. The matrix is centrally positioned in a compact 21 x 20 mm² Ceramic Land Grid Array (CLGA) package for easy and cost-effective integration.

Providing two types of outputs, LVDS and MIPI CSI-2, camera manufacturers can choose according to customer requirements. Additionally, it delivers excellent low-noise performance with < 3e- read noise and enhances sensitivity and angle response with dual microlens technology.

Maxime Taupin, the Marketing Manager at Teledyne e2v, expressed pleasure in launching the Emerald Gen2 sensor product line, specially designed to meet the diverse needs of current and future industries. He stated, "With improved electro-optical performance and flexibility in output selection, this new generation of sensors provides camera manufacturers with high-performance solutions for a variety of demanding customer requirements."
